A native of Zhenning County, Anshun City, Guizhou Province, he graduated from Chongqing Institute of Civil Engineering and Architecture and is the founder of Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd.
In 2018, he was named one of the “100 Outstanding Private Entrepreneurs of the 40 Years of Reform and Opening-up” by the Central United Front Work Department and the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce. He was also recognized as an “Economic News Figure of China” for 2019 and was included in Forbes magazine’s “Business Person of the Year—Global Business Leader” list in 2019.

In September 1991, Huawei rented the third floor of an industrial building in Haoye Village, Bao'an County, Shenzhen, as a facility for developing stored-program telephone exchanges. More than fifty young employees followed Ren Zhengfei to this dilapidated factory building, embarking on an entrepreneurial journey fraught with challenges and uncertainty. They divided the entire floor into four work sections—single-board assembly, power supply, comprehensive testing, and preparation—plus a warehouse and a kitchen. Under the scorching heat of the machinery, workers toiled day and night, drenched in sweat as they designed and fabricated circuit boards, assembled switchboards, soldered circuits, wrote software, and conducted debugging, made revisions, then debugged again and again. Yingtan Zhengwang Technology Co., Ltd., established in September 2020, is located in Longgang Industrial Park, High-tech Zone, Yingtan City, Jiangxi Province. It is a national high-tech enterprise integrating production, research and development, and sales. The company covers an area of 100 acres and currently employs over 200 people. It specializes in the field of high-performance copper alloy wires, mainly producing a series of high-end products such as copper-zinc alloy wires, tin-copper-zinc alloy wires, copper-aluminum alloy wires, and copper-magnesium-aluminum alloy wires. These products are widely used in new energy, artificial intelligence, communication electronics, cables and wires, and other fields. Its core product, copper-zinc alloy wires, has a market share of 30%. Relying on the group layout, Zhengwang now has three major manufacturing bases. From 2016 to 2019, Taizhou Kaiwang Technology Co., Ltd. and Jiangxi Kaiwang Technology Group Co., Ltd. were established in succession. In 2020, Zhengwang Technology was invested and established, and it officially commenced production in 2021. In 2022, the "5G+ Intelligent Factory Construction Project" was launched to gradually promote digital transformation.
