I. Definition
Stranded copper wire consists of multiple fine copper wires twisted together. Each individual copper wire has a very small diameter, resulting in a stranded copper wire that is flexible and smooth. Copper stranded wire is formed by weaving together numerous fine copper wires. Since both are woven from fine copper wires, they exhibit excellent electrical conductivity under identical conditions.
II. Structure
Stranded copper wire features various structural types, including standard copper wire and insulated copper wire. Standard copper wire consists of multiple fine copper strands of differing diameters twisted together. Insulated copper wire comprises standard copper wire encased within a plastic or rubber insulation layer. Copper stranded wire is formed by intertwining two or more thick copper wires. These thick wires are twisted together, creating cross-points during the twisting process.
III. Applications
Stranded copper wire is commonly used in high-frequency power transmission systems, such as television antennas, radio frequency transmission systems, and radio frequency signal connections. Its inherent flexibility and ease of bending allow for installation and wiring in confined spaces. Copper stranded wire can handle higher-power electrical transmission and wiring. Its most common application is as the main conductor in household circuits and power cables. Compared to solid wires, stranded copper wire offers greater power-carrying capacity, and its twisted structure effectively reduces line resistance and inductance.
